Graham Boyd: A Life in Colour, the documentary film that I made with Goldmark Films and Goldmark.TV, has been nominated for a Royal Television Society Award in the Factual Programme category alongside 3 BBC films.

Two years in the making, this new Goldmark film finds 93 year old veteran of abstraction Graham Boyd at work in his Hertfordshire studio. A deep thinker, Boyd talks about his life and inspiration; the early development of his painting into pure abstraction, the impact on his work of his time spent in Africa and America and his continuing artistic journey.

The other films nominated in the category are; Our Lives – Life on the High Wire by Eye Film and BBC One, Step Into The Ring by BBC Three, BBC England, BBC East, BBC and Zoo Mum by Eye Film and BBC One.

Other films I have directed for Goldmark TV have also been nominated in the On Screen Personality category. Max Waterhouse of Goldmark is on the shortlist alongside nominations from BBC and ITV.

The awards will be broadcast online on 29th April at 7pm here https://rts.org.uk/event/rts-east-awards-2022 and you can see all of the nominations here https://rts.org.uk/award/rts-east-awards-2022.

Producer/Director Jay Goldmark, who heads up the independent film unit, comments :-

We are honoured that the Royal Television Society [RTS] has recognised us in this way and has also noted the achievement and talent of Max Waterhouse - who has anchored nearly 150 hours of programmes since we launched Goldmark.tv. at the outbreak of the pandemic. Goldmark Films was nominated for its documentary about artist Ron King in the last RTS Awards before the lockdown but it is doubly sweet to be nominated again after such turbulent times.
