Winning Two Pro Moviemaker Filmmaker of the Year 2026 Awards

Well, this was a nice surprise.

I've been included in the list of winners in this years Pro Moviemaker Magazine Filmmaker of the Year 2026 Awards.

The awards, backed by CVP, celebrate filmmaking across a range of genres, from documentaries and commercials to events and social content. This year I picked up awards for two films.

The Pat Porter Film

The first award was for a documentary I made with Jay Goldmark and Finley Kilmartin for Goldmark Films about the artist Pat Porter.

Porter spent decades creating beautiful work while raising a family, yet much of it remained largely unseen during her lifetime. Through interviews with her four children, we were able to explore not just her paintings, but the person behind them.

We wanted viewers to get a sense of who Pat was and why she kept creating regardless of whether anyone was paying attention.

The judges described the film as both informative and deeply moving.

USA, Rugby, Business and a Welsh Institution

The second award came from a completely different world.

I won for editing an episode of MLR Weekly, the longest-running rugby television show in the United States.

The episode focused on plans for a Hollywood consortium to acquire Cardiff Rugby and help guide one of Wales' most historic clubs through a revival. What could have been a fairly straightforward interview turned into a fascinating conversation about sport, business, ambition and what it takes to rebuild something people care deeply about.

Other winners

Other awards went to films and projects involving the likes of TV star Guy Martin and a music video for indie-folk band Hollow Coves.
