Cardiff Rugby Hollywood Takeover on USA TV show & Wales Online
My latest editing work for USA TV show MLR Weekly features an interview with Rhino Rugby CEO Reg Clark, part of the consortium of businessmen and Hollywood produces who want to buy Cardiff Rugby and make a scripted TV series about the club and city at the same time as leading them to European rugby glory.
The episode was picked up by the Welsh Press, with Wales Online, Wales biggest news website, covering the story from our programme.
“In an interview with MLR Weekly, Clark has revealed they plan to stage the odd game in the US if their bid is successful. “For certain,” Clark told MLR Weekly when asked if they wanted to take Cardiff games to the US.
”I think there’s a great desire on behalf of World Rugby to stage prominent rugby events in the US in the build-up to the World Cup in 2031 and 2033.
”I think if Cardiff had substantial US ownership they would want to play games in the US - both exhibition games and competitive games, obviously subject to World Rugby and US Rugby approval.
”I believe Wrexham played a game in LA against Manchester United, for example, as a result of the Wrexham thing.
”The simple answer is yes and I can’t see how that would be a negative for anybody.””

“CARDIFF, WALES - What does Cardiff Rugby have to do with a MLR Weekly show? Plenty. Why? Because a band of savvy, passionate mix of Hollywood producers, businessmen and rugby professionals may have just what the sport needs: outside the box thinking with some Hollywood flare. In this case, the aforementioned want to purchase Cardiff Rugby, a storied club since 1876, rescue them from bankruptcy, see them flourish... AND script a TV series about the whole thing. One of the principals, Rhino Rugby CEO Reg Clark, speaks candidly and in-depth with host Matt McCarthy about this wild and intriguing venture.”
MLR Weekly is America's longest running rugby show, broadcast on a number of TV networks in USA and youtube. In 2025 it won a Filmmaker of the Year award for editing
